Information we collect

We collect information you provide directly (name, email, business details, photos) and information gathered automatically (IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrers).

How we use your information

Your information powers your business listing, helps us improve the directory, lets us contact you about your account, and supports targeted media placement when you subscribe to Gold or Platinum tiers.

Cookies & tracking

We use first-party cookies for authentication and a small set of analytics cookies to understand site performance. You can manage your preferences via the cookie banner.

Sharing with third parties

We share data with the service providers required to operate the site (Stripe for payments, Resend for transactional email, UploadThing for image hosting, Google Maps for maps and geocoding). We do not sell your personal data.

Your rights

Under PIPEDA you may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information at any time. Email privacy@halacanada.ca and we'll respond within 30 days.

Data retention

We keep your account and listing data while your subscription is active. Inactive accounts are anonymized 24 months after their last sign-in.

Security

Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Sessions are signed JWTs delivered via httpOnly cookies. Payments are processed by Stripe and never touch our servers.

Quebec residents — Law 25

Residents of Quebec have additional rights under Law 25, including the right to data portability and the right to refuse certain automated decisions. Contact privacy@halacanada.ca to exercise these rights.
